Sweetwater Brewing Company
SweetWater’s roots began back in Boulder, Colorado in the early 90’s while Freddy Bensch and Kevin McNerney were roommates at the University of Colorado, Boulder.
During their time out west, they realized they had more of a hankering for beer than books. Their first step into the profession was washing kegs on the loading docks of a local brewery for free beer. Not a bad job when you’re in college! Once they were finished with school, Freddy and Kevin headed off to the American Brewers Guild in California aka Brewing School to sharpen up their knowledge of “Fermentation Science”! Sweetwater Brewing Company was officially established in 1997 and has continued to expand rapidly since.
In 2013 SweetWater ranked 26th among the top 50 U.S. breweries and 19th among the top 50 U.S. craft brewing companies based on sales volume.
SweetWater 420 Fest is an annual three-day craft beer, music and arts festival formerly held in Atlanta’s Centennial Olympic park on or around the weekend of April 20. The Earth Day inspired festival was first hosted in 2004 and features live music, local art, standup comedy, food trucks, craft beer tasting and a 5k. We hope to see you there this weekend!
It wouldn’t be 420 Fest without delicious Sweetwater Beer! Stop in today and stock up on these and many more tasty local brews!
Sweetwater 420 Extra Pale Ale
The one that started it all! Named after April 20th, the day it was first brewed, 420 Pale Ale is a crisp, clean, hoppy beer revered by Atlantans and enjoyed throughout the south! Light enough to be refreshing on a hot day, but with enough heft to remind you that you’re drinking a beer. No 50 calorie tapwater here!
Lauded as “a hophead’s beery dream” by Beer Advocate, Sweetwater IPA started the hop obsession for many of us here in Georgia. This mammoth India Pale Ale is packed full of Chinook, Cascade, Columbus, Simcoe, and US Golding hops and is unfiltered, leaving all natural flavors intact. The beer you’ve been training for!
Sweetwater Goin’ Coastal IPA
Slide into summer and step off the grid by Goin’ Coastal with this pineapple laced IPA. The bright aromas of the five citrus hop additions are accentuated by the tropical fruit of the pineapple – and just like those three day weekends, its finish is quick.
