Thanksgiving Dinner:
Better with Burgundy!
Domaine des Farondes
Bourgogne Rouge — 2015
Domaine des Farondes is a 15ha estate located in the town of Bissey and has been producing wines for 4 generations. Current wine-maker Jean-Philippe Prétet practices conventional farming but uses methods that help reduce chemical treatments of the vines: grass cover planting, mechanical weeding, thinning out of leaves.
The grapes are carefully selected and de-stemmed. Cold maceration, fermentation (10-12 days). Ageing in new and 1 or 2 year old oak barrels.
Intense ruby red coulor. Red fruits (cherry, raspberry) on the nose, with hints of pepper and oak. Generous and structured palate with a good concentration. Aromas of red fruits and spice combine with soft tannins.
Olivier Laflaive
“Les Setilles”
Bourgogne Blanc — 2017
James Suckling — 91 Points: As always a fresh and clean white with sliced cooked apples, lemons, some mango and a hint of stone. Medium-bodied, clean and bright. Drink now.
Decanter — 90 Points: No fewer than 65 parcels go into this commendably reliable cuvée, sourced from vineyards in Rully, Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet and the Hautes Côtes. It’s lightly wooded, appealingly fresh and showing good citrus-like ping. Drinking Window 2019 – 2022.
